ACT rebates

Think you may be entitled to a concession or rebate?

Check below to see if you're eligible.

  • If you or someone at your address depends on life support equipment that’s electrically operated, you may be entitled to a rebate.

    Am I eligible?

    You’re eligible for an ACT Life Support rebate if:

    • The life support equipment is prescribed by an ACT medical practitioner for the treatment of a life-threatening condition.
    • The address the rebate is to be applied to is the sole or principal place of residence of the person on life support.

    You’re entitled to the ACT Life Support rebate if you’re using any of the following equipment:

    • Dialysis machine
    • Oxygen concentrator
    • Respirator
    • CPAP regulator
    • Nebuliser
    • TPN device
    • Crigler Najjar Syndrome phototherapy equipment
    • Medical heating and cooling
    • Other equipment that a registered medical practitioner certifies as required

    You'll need to print and completed the form with your medical practitioner.

  • If you or someone living at your address is unable to self-regulate body temperature, you may be entitled to this rebate.

    Am I eligible?

    You’re eligible if you hold a:

    • Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
    • Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card
    • Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card or Gold Card

    AND

    You have a medically-diagnosed inability to self-regulate body temperature.

    AND

    The address the rebate is to be applied to is the sole or principal place of residence of the person with an inability to self-regulate body temperature.

    AND

    You have at least one primary and one secondary qualifying medical condition requiring heating or cooling to prevent severe exacerbation of the condition.

    Primary conditions (you must have one of these conditions to be eligible)
    • Multiple Sclerosis
    • Parkinson’s Disease
    • Fibromyalgia
    • Muscular Dystrophy
    • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
    • Motor Neurone Disease
    • Lymphoedema
    • Post Polio Syndrome/Poliomyelitis
    Secondary conditions (you must also have one of these conditions to be eligible)
    • Severe immobility resulting in problems with the self-regulation of body temperature due to a loss of sympathetic nervous system control.
    • Demonstrated significant loss of autonomic regulation of sweating, heart rate or blood pressure.
    • Demonstrated loss of physiological function or significant aggravation of clinical condition at extremes of environmental temperature.

    You'll need to print and completely this form with your medical practitioner.

  • If someone at your address is receiving treatment from a home dialysis machine, you may be entitled to this rebate on your water and sewerage account.

    Am I eligible?

    You’re eligible for this rebate if:

    • You’re receiving treatment from a home dialysis machine or
    • You’re the guardian/parent/carer of a person receiving treatment from a home dialysis machine.

  • In the ACT, the Utilities Concession covers electricity and gas and is passed on to you via your electricity account.

    Am I eligible?

    You're eligible for the Utilities Concession if:

    • You hold one of these cards:
      • Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card (PCC)
      • Centrelink Low Income Health Care Card (HCC)
      • Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card or Gold Card
    • The energy bill is in your name.
    • The address on your account is your sole or principal place of residence.

    How do I apply?

    Add a concession card to your account through My.ActewAGL. You’ll need:

    • Your concession card.
    • Your ActewAGL electricity and/or gas account number.
